The Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute is part of the "Im Grüene" foundation. As a non-profit organization and according to its founder it is a "place of reflection and encounter" with the goal of carrying out "scientific research in the social and economical sphere." As a meeting place, GDI welcomes leading thinkers and decision makers to its conferences, to jointly develop new thoughts and innovative ideas. In addition, the institute organizes events on ongoing themes for a wider audience. Furthermore, GDI rents out its space and infrastructure for business or private events.
