The Association Hospitalière Sainte-Marie (established under a 1901 French law) covers more than 20 medico-social and social sanitariums within several departments in France (Alpes Maritimes, Ardèche, Aveyron, Haute Loire and Puy de Dôme), and is one of the main actors in French public health. With over 5000 employees (200 doctors, 2770 nurses, 600 paramedics, 530 hospital staff, 970 administrative staff, the organization handles psychiatric cases in an area covering 1.5 million inhabitants.
